Police Horse Refuses To Get Out Of Bed Without A Cup Of Tea

This pampered British police horse won’t start his day until he’s been served a giant mug of tea. That’s being British.

Jake, the horse, has been with Merseyside Police force for over 15 years now. During that time he has developed a love for his sugary cup.

One day the naughty horse took a zip of his rider’s brew which make Jake fall in love with the hot drink. Shortly he was asking for more from the comfort of his stable.

Since then, Jake’s human colleagues include the cheeky 20-year-old stallion to their round of tea and gets his breakfast served in his bed.

By now he already knows that he has to wait in his Liverpool bed for his special mug to be brought to him.

Jake is really health-conscious. He takes his tea with skimmed milk instead of full fat. The only treat is to two heaped teaspoons of sugar. Find a horse that doesn’t like some extra sugar 🙂 Not to burn his tongue, his riders put a little of cold water, so it isn’t too hot.

Merseyside Police Mounted Section manager and trainer Lindsey Gaven explained: ‘Jake is one of 12 horses we’ve got at the stable working with us. ’

I’d definitely describe Jake as a horse with a lot of character.’ Ms. Gaven continued: ‘We’ve all learnt his tea order – he’ll deal with one sugar, but is definitely happier when you remember to give him two.’

If you’re at the side of the stable and he sees you with a mug in your hand, you can guarantee he’ll trot on over to try and steal a slurp.’

Having two decades on his shoulders, Jake is set to retire from the role next year. There’s a question that comes out from that, does his pension also include life-time supply of tea-in-bed?
